Who We Are

CORE at our best is a group of thoughtful individuals who are driven by curiosity and a relentless desire to work together to make our community a better place. We see the world as a place of opportunity, and we’re always looking to solve problems, take on challenges, and create value.

We’ve started companies, interned at some of the world’s most exciting startups (both big and small!), and each made entrepreneurship a cornerstone of our Columbia experience, but we know we’ve still got a lot to do. If you find promise and meaning in entrepreneurship, we’d love to hear from you.

Our Values

What We Do

CORE runs many inititives throughout the semester, and we're always open to new ideas! Here are just a few of the things we have run in the past.

Almaworks

Almaworks started as a simple idea: an accelerator program built by students for students. But over just the past two years, it has become one of the most successful student-run accelerators in the country, seeing an Almaworks startup enter Y Combinator and go on to raise a 3.1MM seed round from investors such as KPCB, FundersClub, and many prominent angel investors.

Global Tech Treks

Each spring break, CORE airdrops two dozen students of different backgrounds per trip into some of the most exciting and entrepreneurial cities abroad. Students spend their spring break meeting with founders, investors, and builders, and have gotten to immerse themselves in cities such as London, Paris, Berlin, and Barcelona.

EVE (Entrepreneurship Via Exploration)

EVE takes a dozen students on weekly excursions off campus to visit the best of NYC's entrepreneurship ecosystem. By speaking with professionals from companies like Expa Labs, RRE Ventures, and Google, students are exposed to all aspects of the startup process, and also get to enjoy the city itself with each other with fun activities in Chelsea and Central Park.

Startup Columbia

Startup Columbia is a two-day celebration of innovation and entrepreneurship. The festival begins with the culmination of the $250,000 Columbia Venture Competition, of which CORE administers the Undergraduate Challenge. The festival then segues into an all-day conference featuring innovators and entrepreneurs examining future solutions to the world's most vexing problems.
